Apart from our academic partners, Belgian research institutes active in life-sciences are also important stakeholders in ELIXIR Belgium. Members of these organisations generate and use data, thereby facing similar data challenges. With the ELIXIR Belgium Interest Group, we aim to bring together members of research institutes in order to exchange views, share best practices and promote collaborations.

The first ELIXIR Belgium Interest Group meeting took place on 18 June 2018 and aimed at building the network and setting the scene. Activities on data-management & FAIR data, cloud applications, data trainings ... in ELIXIR Belgium were presented. Representatives of the research institutes gave an insight on their working area’s and took the opportunity to express their needs in bioinformatics and data-management and how ELIXIR Belgium can assist.

The meeting gathered experts from ILVO, IMEC, de Duve Institute, VITO, VLIZ, VSC and Botanic Garden Mesie. The next ELIXIR Belgium Interest Group meeting is planned for June 2019. Feel free to contact us if you are interested to join.
